High-level online reputation management (ORM) is much more sophisticated than simply distributing press releases. My process involves two major steps:

  1. Custom review acquisition and management system
  2. Dominate at least the 1stpage of Google by ranking content you control

Custom review acquisition and management system

After identifying the priority of which websites need the most new reviews, I create and document a step-by-step process to acquire new reviews and respond to existing reviews. Yelp is typically the highest priority because the often few established Yelpers among your client-base need to be targeted because their reviews are most likely to stick (not be filtered) by Yelp’s algorithm After Yelp, your custom process will include sending customers to the highest priority sites depending on review count and average star rating. For example, for Google My Business, I will create a custom URL like this, so the review box automatically pops-up, thus eliminating the often frustrating situation of explaining to clients how to find your Google listing. For attorneys, another example is creating step-by-step instructions, showing how to send a review request by email, via the backend of Avvo. Your custom online management reputation system will free you and/or your manager’s time, by never having to train employees who are taking over these tasks for the first time by including:

  1. Custom project management system in Trello
  2. Integrated over-the-shoulder training via screen recording (example of social media training I made)
